Policies and Solutions

The marine research that is conducted by the members of the Northridge Marine Sustainability Group is strongly rooted in providing information that is useful for improved marine management, helping to advise governments and other technical bodies on solutions to important issues, and providing scientific information that can underpin policies both in the UK, Europe and Internationally.

In the UK the Fisheries Act and Marine Strategy ……AL to write…sustainble..

The Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 made it an offence to kill, injure or take seals at any time except in accordance with the terms of a seal licence, with licences granted allowing the shooting of seals for the protection of fisheries, aquaculture, or for scientific or welfare reasons. The Act sets out the requirements for the licencing system, providing a framework for industry and regulators.
